BBI project BARBARA Final Conference : October 6th, 2020 01 Sept 2020
Since 2017, CELABOR is involved in the European Bio-based Industries ( BBI) project called BARBABA. This project is coordinated by AITIIP(Spain) and gathers companies, universities and R&D centers from Spain ( FECOAM, NUREL, ACCIONA, TECNO PACKAGING, ALICANTE UNIVERSITY), Italy ( PERUGIA UNIVERSITY, FIAT-CHRYSLER RESEARCH CENTER) and Sweden ( KTH).
The goal of this project is the valorization of agricultural by-products and wastes to create biobased and functionalized plastic matrices for 3D printing of specific parts used in the automotive and construction fields.
CELABOR was involved in the project in the development and scaling up of the extraction and formulation of molecules of interest such as polysaccharides from corn residues, pigments from lemon or pomegranate peel or even essential oils from lemon skin.
After 3 years of intense collaboration leading to very interesting results and the realization of promising prototypes, the project came to an end in May 2020. Unfortunately, due to the lockdown linked to the COVID crisis, the final conference of the project did not could be organized at this time.
This final conference to disseminate the results will finally take place on October 6th in Zaragoza (Spain). As the health situation is still sensitive, the event will be live streamed. If you would like to attend our conference, you can register here.
Dr Stéphane KOHNEN will present the results obtained in CELABOR's Biomass Extraction & Valuation Department during this project. We look forward to meeting you there. |
