New pelletiser for natural fibres used in composite materials 25 Fév 2013
In the context of the CILAB project, supported by the Walloon Region and FEDER, Celabor has jus acquired a laboratory machine to produce pellets.
During some projects about reinforcement of plastics by natural fibres, it appeared that it is very difficult to feed and above all to dose fibres into the melted polymer.
The method consisting of transforming the fibres into “pellets” allows a correct and even feeding and thus a more homogeneous dispersion of the fibres in the compound.
Those pellets must have a density such that they can disintegrate easily in contact with the polymer, which is the composite matrix.
Therefore Celabor decided to invest in a laboratory pelleting machine, in order to be able to produce the pellets themselves and to optimize their consistency according to the materials used. The pelletiser will also allow us to obtain pellets in quantities adequate for pilot-scale trials rather than simple laboratory tests.
